Missions - In Matthew 28:19 Jesus commands us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations." In our 'Great Commission" we at River Oaks Church do our best to reach out to others locally, nationally and internationally. Our missions outreach may touch local lives with help in the form of a wheelchair ramp, lawn mowing for seniors, or any number of other things we can do for people. We also reach the nations by supporting mission activity in Haiti, India, Honduras, Canada, the Cayman Islands and any number of other countries around the country and the world.
Men's ministry - At River Oaks Church we believe that men have been instructed by God in the role as spiritual leader of his household and that he will one day be accountable for that. We believe in building strong, biblically sound men and teaching them to lead their families as Christ leads the church. Our men's ministry has its own "Man Cave" where we can meet for Bible studies, to watch sports or just get together and have a good time getting to know one another. That Man Cave is also attached to a 16oo sq. ft. workshop where we can help one another with small projects or we may just be building a hotrod in there! Come meet with us every first and third Tuesday for a Men's Lunch at a local restaurant that will be listed on the church calendar!
Women's ministry - Women were found wherever Jesus was. Sometimes serving others sometimes just sitting at His feet. The focus of the women's ministry at River Oaks Church is to equip and encourage women to be all that Christ has designed then to be, finding their identity and motivation in relationship with Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Weekly Bible studies keep us rooted in the Word. Praying for each other and those in need, leads to acts of service for those who need comfort or care during times of crisis. A weekly visit to the local jail has ministered to many, and reaching out to their families during the holidays has become an annual event. Several annual retreats are enjoyed as times to lift the spirit and refresh the soul
House of Prayer and worship: Jesus said in Mark 11:17, "Is it not written that My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations?" We are also called to 'pray for one another' (Jas. 5:16). Every first Sunday evening from 6-8 PM please come join us for an informal House of Prayer at ROC. You can stop in for 5 minutes or for 2 hours. Spend time praying by yourself or with others or just feel free to 'Be still and know the He is God' (Psalm 46:10).
Freedom Prayer: Freedom Prayer sessions are facilitated prayer times designed to brink freedom and relief to places of heart trauma and thinking that is stuck in the past. The sessions last approximately an hour and a half. They are not a replacement for counseling or discipleship but work in conjunction with those. Often helping to bring breakthrough to deeply rooted issues or recover from traumatic events and forming new ways of thinking and healthier patterns of thinking and behavior their walk with God and others. Some have found that several sessions of Freedom Prayer help them move past difficult season in their life to new freedom and identity. Freedom Prayer is best explained like this; 'The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.' (John 14:26) Please sign up through our contact us page.
Biblical Counseling Session: Biblical Counseling sessions are exactly that, counsel from God's Word. The solutions to life's issues and challenges all find their solutions in our relationship to God and His counsel. If you need counsel to guide you through life's situations and relationships, Biblical counsel is the only counsel we offer. Please sign up through our contact us page.
CPR: Christ Powered Recovery is a Christ based 12 step program for addictions of any kind. The evil one 'prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour' (1 Peter 5:8). Many times he devours lives, marriages, finances, jobs and relationships through addictions. Anything that overpowers our ability to make health, life giving choices is a stronghold, an addiction. Christ said, "I came that they may have life and life abundantly" (John 10:10). He has broken down every barrier so that we can walk out of addiction into freedom. CPR is there to help anyone who struggles with addictions of any kind. People participate voluntarily or by court appointment and we also have service work to meet mandatory community service judgments. Meetings are every Monday night at 7pm in the 'Man Cave' building.
